Police have arrested Ahmed Murtaza, who unsuccessfully tried to enter the famous Gorakhnath temple in UP's Gorakhpur.

Police have arrested Ahmed Murtaza, who unsuccessfully tried to enter the famous Gorakhnath temple in UP's Gorakhpur. 

Murtaza had attacked two PAC personnel with sharp weapons. On Monday, Mortaza was produced in the court of ACJF First. Where the court has sent him to 14 days of judicial custody.

According to the information revealed, the laptop, PAN card and plane ticket have also been recovered from Murtaza. 

During the interrogation of the police, Ahmed Murtaza kept saying repeatedly that I want someone to shoot me. Meanwhile, the investigation of this case has been handed over to the UP ATS.

UP ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar informed that at around 7 pm on Sunday, a person attacked the policemen posted in the security of the temple near gate number-1 of Gorakhnath police station and also raised religious slogans. Two soldiers were injured in this attack.

Prashant Kumar said that the investigation of this matter is still at the initial stage. A separate case has been registered in the case regarding 61/22 sharp-edged weapons.  


A review has been done by the government regarding the security of all the important places. Approval has been given to increase the deployment.

Prashant Kumar told that the help of all agencies will be taken in this. It will be ascertained where this person has travelled.  

In such a situation, there are many issues that ATS will investigate. Apart from this, NIA and IB will also investigate this matter.

 Soldiers will be honoured

Soldiers who show bravery in this event will be honoured. In this regard, the UP Home Department has issued a press note saying, "The attack on the police personnel in Gorakhnath temple is part of a serious conspiracy and based on the facts that have come to the fore, it can be said that it is a terrorist incident."

The press note said that the attacker was trying to enter the temple premises with a bad intention to carry out the terrorist incident, which was foiled by the brave PAC and police personnel.  

In this incident, the man has also seriously injured two PAC jawans.  Effective investigation and full investigation of the incident are being done against the accused of this malafide incident.

 5 lakhs reward:

Three soldiers, PAC constable Gopal Gaur, PAC constable Anil Paswan, and constable civilian police Anurag Rajput, who foiled the attack in Gorakhnath temple, should be given five lakh rupees as a reward by CM Yogi has been announced.  

Both the agencies of UP ATS and UP STF have been directed to work jointly in the investigation of this incident by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

 At the same time, during the interrogation of the police, Ahmed Murtaza told them that his full name is Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi.  He is a resident of the Civil Lines of Gorakhpur itself.  

Her father's name is Manir Ahmed.  Regarding his education, Murtaza told that he has studied chemical engineering at IIT Bombay.  

At the same time, the police are investigating the background of this person and are investigating the matter from every angle.

Ahmed's family members say that earlier his family lived in Mumbai. But in October 2020, they came to Gorakhpur and settled in Civil Lines.  

He said that Murtaza's mental condition is not good. He was missing from the house since last Saturday evening. The family members were looking for him.
