In a major development, a hand grenade was hurled by miscreants outside a new liquor shop (Theka) built by Rimple Group in Batala town of Gurdaspur district in Punjab. Fortunately, the grenade did not explode, and the police recovered it intact. The grenade was recovered by the police in front of the gate of the new branch of Rimple Group's shop located at Focal Point in Batala.
As per reports, the responsibility of this attack has been taken by Pro-Khalistan terrorists Manu Agwan and Gopi Navanshahriyan, sitting abroad. A post has also been issued about this. The police have recorded the statement of the contractor on the basis of the said post and started investigating the matter.
The incident came to the fore on Saturday morning after a social media post went viral. In the social media post, it was written that a grenade was thrown at the said place in which the responsibility was taken by Manu Agwan and Gopi Navanshahriyan.
After that, the intelligence agencies and police came on alert. As soon as the information of the grenade was received, senior officers of the Batala police and other teams reached the spot. Due to large factories and other business establishments located at the focal point, a large number of laborers and other people work there.
