The Delhi Police on Thursday registered a case against climate activist Greta Thunberg under Section 120B and Section 153A of the IT Act for alleged provocative tweets over ongoing farmers' protests in India.

However, soon after the FIR Greta Thunberg again tweeted in support of farmers' protest and said that she still stands with farmers and supports their peaceful protest.

"I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest."

Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg had previously shared a toolkit on social media for the farmer protests in India which indicates that a widespread campaign may have been on much before January 26.

"Here’s an updated toolkit by people on the ground in India if you want to help. (They removed their previous document as it was outdated.) #StandWithFarmers #FarmersProtest," she said in a follow-up Tweet.

The document has been restricted and seen as an international conspiracy against India and the Modi government.

Earlier, Greta shared a CNN article on farmers' protest and had written that she ‘stands in solidarity with the farmers in India,’ attracting widespread controversy in India.

The Ministry of External Affairs was quick to react to Greta's tweet and slammed her other global celebrities for their comments on farmers' protest, suggesting they should avoid "sensationalising the issue for the sake of popular hashtags".

In a statement, the MEA said, "Yet, it is unfortunate to see vested interest groups trying to enforce their agenda on these protests, and derail them. This was egregiously witnessed on January 26, India's Republic Day. A cherished national commemoration, the anniversary of the inauguration of the Constitution of India, was besmirched, and violence and vandalism took place in the Indian capital."

"Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible," the statement said.

Several cricketers and Bollywood icons including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Karan Johar also came forward to show their support to the government and said we should not promote propaganda and India should stay united during such harsh times.
