Ground Report: Detailed list of close fights happening in each ward of Jalandhar ahead of MC Polls

Elections of five municipal corporations, 44 municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and bypoll for 49 wards of urban civic bodies in Punjab will take place on December 21, 2024. Five MCs of Punjab will undergo elections on December 21 namely- Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Phagwara. Ahead of the Jalandhar MC Elections 2024, True Scoop's ground report unraveled some interesting facts.

According to True Scoop's ground report, some wards are witnessing the BJP vs. AAP contest, while some wards are witnessing the AAP vs. Congress contest. Overall, AAP has an edge in the upcoming Jalandhar MC Elections 2024. However, despite Congress securing victory in many constituencies during the LS Polls 2024, multiple wards are witnessing the BJP vs. AAP contest. In many wards, Congress has slumped to the number 3 spot. Furthermore, there are silent voters in many wards who can change the course of the outcome. 

The true Scoop ground report also tried to find out which candidates were enjoying an edge or facing tough poll fights from their rival candidates. Below is a list of wards and candidates who are facing tough competition from their rivals- 

• Ward Number 1: AAP's candidate Paramjit Kaur is giving a tough poll fight to BJP candidate Sharda Syal. On the other hand, Congress' Ashu Sharma may have a close fight for the second or third spot.
• Ward Number 2: This ward is also witnessing AAPvsBJP with AAP candidate Vijay Bhatia getting tough competition from BJP's Vishal Kumar.
• Ward Number 3: AAP candidate Baljinder Kaur is looking strong from this ward as per the ground report. On the other hand, BJP's Rajini Bala and Congress candidate Parminder Kaur may fight for the second and third spot.
• Ward Number 4:  Here BJP's Prashant Ghambir is getting a tough fight from AAP's Jagis Singh. On the other hand, Congress' Jasvir Singh Bagga may have to fight for the second or third spot.
• Ward Number 5:  AAP's Navdeep Kaur is looking strong in the ward. On the other hand, BJP's Madhu Bala and Congress' Seema Rani will have to fight it out on the poll ground to secure second and third spot.
• Ward Number 6: This ward may witness a neck-to-neck fight between AAP and Congress. AAP has fielded Tarlok Saran and Congress has fielded Gurnam Singh.
• Ward Number 7: This ward also may witness a tight fight between AAP and the Congress. AAP has fielded Bibi Surinder Kaur while Congress has put its faith in Nirmal Kaur.
• Ward Number 8: AAP's Amardeep Sandal may display a strong performance here. On the other hand, Congress' Seema Jassal and BJP's Gurmeet Singh may witness a tight fight between them.
• Ward Number 9: AAP candidate Vandana is looking strong here. On the other hand, a neck-to-neck fight may be witnessed here between Congress' Bimala Rani and BJP's Pooja Sonkar.
• Ward Number 10: AAP candidate Balbir Singh Dhillon is looking strong in this ward as well. On the other hand, BJP and Congress may witness a tight fight between them for the second spot.

• Ward Number 13: Congress candidate Usha Rani is looking strong from this ward. On the other hand, AAP candidate Sunita Rani is also looking good and may give a tight fight to the Congress candidate.
• Ward Number 14: AAP candidate Gurminder Singh is looking strong from here. On the other Congress and BJP may have a tight fight for the number 2 spot.
• Ward Number 15: From this ward as well, AAP Candidate Manjit Kaur is looking strong. Congress candidate Rajwinder Kaur may also give a tough fight to the AAP candidate. On the other hand, the BJP may have to fight hard to secure a second spot here.
• Ward Number 16: This ward may witness a neck-to-neck fight between all three parties. AAP has fielded Rajinder Kumar Juneja, Congress has fielded Bharat Singh.
• Ward Number 17: BJP's Satya Devi may face a tough fight from AAP's Samita. On the other hand, Congress' Tripta may have to fight hard to secure the second spot.
• Ward Number 18: This ward may witness a tough poll fight between all three parties i.e. AAP, BJP, and Congress. AAP has fielded Parneet Singh, BJP has fielded Kanwar Sartaj Singh and Congress has fielded Surjit Singh Bhoon.
• Ward Number 19: BJP's Manjit Kaur may display a strong performance in the ward but AAP's Harleen Kaur is also not too far behind the saffron party.
• Ward Number 20: This ward may witness a neck-to-neck fight between the BJP and AAP. While AAP has fielded Manmohan Singh, BJP has fielded Harjit Singh.
• Ward Number 21: AAP is again expected to perform strong from here. On the other hand, Congress and BJP may have to witness a tight fight for the second spot. AAP has fielded Pinderjit Kaur, Congress has fielded Amarjit Kaur, and BJP has fielded Anju Bharadwaj.
• Ward Number 22: This ward may witness a neck-to-neck fight between AAP and the BJP. While AAP has fielded Robin, BJP has fielded Dhiraj Kumar Virdi.
• Ward Number 23: AAP vs INC may be witnessed here as both the candidates may have a tight fight. AAP's candidate is Ganga Dev, while the Congress candidate is Paramjit Kaur.
• Ward Number 24: AAP's Amit Dhall may turn out to be the strongest performer here as compared to Congress' Satish Kumar Dhir and BJP's Shubham Sharma.
• Ward Number 25: This ward may witness a tough fight between AAP and the Congress. AAP has fielded Aarti Sahota, Congress has fielded Uma Beri. On the other hand, BJP's Kiran Jagota will have to display a stronger performance to secure the second position.

• Ward Number 33: AAP's Aruna Arora is one of the high-profile names from this ward. Hence, it is expected that she will display a strong performance. Arora has been at loggerheads with BJP's Vandana Madaan.
• Ward Number 34: AAP's Gurnam Singh is looking strong from this ward. On the other hand, Congress' Satpal Rai and BJP's Ranjit Kumar Nar may have a tight fight for the second spot.
• Ward Number 35: This ward may witness a close contest between AAP, Congress, and BJP. AAP has fielded Simran Jot Kaur, Congress has fielded Harsharan Kaur, and the BJP has fielded Reena Kohli.
• Ward Number 36: Congress candidate Pawan Kumar is looking strong from this ward. On the other hand, AAP's Prince may have a tight fight with his BJP counterpart Gourav Mahey.

• Ward Number 43: This ward may witness a neck-to-neck fight between AAP and BJP. While AAP has fielded Sunita, BJP has fielded Sunita Rani.

• Ward Number 48: Here AAP vs Congress is most likely on the cards with AAP candidate Harjinder Singh Ladda looking strong as compared to Congress' Karan Verma.
• Ward Number 49: A neck-to-neck fight is most likely here between AAP and Congress. AAP has fielded Jaspal Kaur, Congress has fielded Neha, and BJP has fielded Shashi Kiran Chadha.
• Ward Number 50: A BJP vs AAP fight may be witnessed here with BJP's Manjit Singh taking on AAP's Harsimran Jit Singh.
