Gujarat: 6 workers killed in blast at a chemical factory in Bharuch

The fire was so severe that all the belongings of the company were burnt to ashes.

Six people died in a blast at a chemical factory in the Dahej industrial area of Gujarat's Bharuch district late on Sunday night. According to sources, the incident took place at around 3 a.m. in Dahej Industrial Area, about 235 km from Ahmedabad.

“The blast in the reactor caused a fire in the factory. All the six persons working near the reactor died. The bodies were later recovered and sent for postmortem. The fire was also brought under control,” said Bharuch Superintendent of Police Leena Patil.

The fire was so severe that all the belongings of the company were burnt to ashes. Along with the police, the health department is also investigating the incident. Police is also checking the fire safety equipment in the company whether they were present in the company or not.




In February last year also, a fire broke out in the chemical factory manufacturing phosphorus in Bharuch itself. In this accident, 24 employees were injured and 5 were missing. The explosion was so strong that its sound was heard up to 20 km away.
