Gurdaspur: Gangster Bablu arrested after a 4-hour-long encounter with Punjab Police

The struggle between gangster Ranjodh Bablu and the police has ended in Kotla Bojha Singh, a town near Batala. Police caught the gangster in injured condition after a 4-hour struggle. The gangster was shot and hurt in the crossfire. Two weapons have also been recovered from the arrested gangster Bablu.

Many cases of drug trafficking have already been registered against him. Police had followed him from his house. Then, in the Gurdaspur village of Kotla Boja Singh, close to Achchal Sahib on the Batala-Jalandhar road, he hid in a sugarcane field. The police arrested him following the search operation there.

The police had blocked off the village Kotla Boja Singh and its nearby villages as soon as the encounter started. All-access roads to the village were closed down. To prevent any harm, the police appealed to the residents of the village to stay inside.

As per Batala SSP Satinder Singh, two cases of murderous attack have been filed against Ranjodh Bablu in the last 15 days.

According to IG Manish Chawla and SSP Satinder Singh, there were 60 to 70 gunshots fired from each side. There are currently 7 cases against accused Ranjodh Singh, aka Bablu, of which 4 have been filed by the Amritsar police and 3 by the Batala police. He has been taken to Batala Civil Hospital for treatment, where he is receiving care while being guarded by police.
