In a shocking incident, a Punjab Police cop was sent to Police Lines after he was caught in video slapping a protesting farmer woman. On Thursday, a Punjab Police cop came under the scanner of social media after a video went viral in which he was seen slapping an elderly woman who was reportedly a farmer. The incident took place in Gurdaspur's Bhamari village of Shri Hargobindpur block. As soon as the video went viral, higher authorities took cognizance of the matter and sent the cop to Police lines. Also, a departmental inquiry was initiated against him. It is pertinent to mention here that True Scoop News cannot say which party went violent first, however, the viral video indeed shows the Punjab Police cop slapping the elderly woman. Notably, the farmers were protesting against the acquisition of their land for the Delhi-Katra National Highway.
In the viral video, the cop can be seen arguing with the protesting farmer lady and suddenly, he lost his calm and slapped her. While the cop slapped her, other Police personnel kept on seeing and other protestors were also removed forcefully.

NIA, Punjab Police jointly conduct raids at 58 locations
Reports further suggest that the incident was not limited to the cop slapping the elderly woman. As per reports., police personnel are also being accused of dragging farmer leaders and removing their turbans during the major scuffle. Notably, following this incident tense situation has been prevailing in the area. The protesting farmers have warned that they would not allow any government or non government organization to take their lands unless they are being compensated adequately.
Talking about the proposed 669-km Delhi- Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the ambitious project will be done at a total cost of about Rs 39,500 crore. Delhi- Amritsar-Katra Expressway will be developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and once it gets completed it will cut the travel time from Delhi to Amritsar or vice versa to four-and-a-half hours. Not only this, the journey from New Delhi to Katra will be cut to only six-and-a-half hours.
