All private schools and colleges will remain closed in Punjab today. This decision has been taken by the Federation Association of Private Schools in connection with the rape of a girl child in a private school in Gurdaspur.

Federation State President Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri and Gurdaspur District Representative Dr. Mohit Mahajan said that in the past, an incident of rape of a 4-year-old girl student of a school in Gurdaspur had come to the fore. All the organizations have condemned the incident and the registration of a case against the innocent management.

“It is disturbing and sad that such a heinous crime happened with a little victim but it is not correct to arrest the school authorities instead of nabbing the main culprits who committed such a monstrous crime,” said district president Manmohan Singh.

The Federation stated that there is no proof that the crime took place on the school premises according to the CCTV footage. The incident was unfortunate but there’s no point in arresting the MD of the school instead of the main accused.  Thus, all the private institutes including schools, colleges and universities will remain closed on April 11.
