Indian Army soldier from Gurdaspur martyred in ceasefire violation at LOC

Pakistani troops had shelled areas along the LoC in Mankote and Khari Karmara sectors of Poonch district on Monday and Tuesday

In yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistan, an Indian Army jawan from Gurdaspur, Punjab was martyred.  Mortars and small arms were fired from Pakistan in Tarkundi sector of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. In this firing, a 28-year-old soldier of the Indian Army, Gurcharan Singh was martyred.

Pakistani troops had shelled areas along the LoC in Mankote and Khari Karmara sectors of Poonch district on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the district administration in Rajouri today sanctioned Rs 20 lakh compensation to the victims of cross-LoC shelling.


According to an official spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today cleared 4 compensation cases, including 3 deaths and 1 disability case related to militancy and cross-border shelling during the District Level Coordination Cum Screening committee meeting.
