Gurinder Singh Dhillon, Ex-Punjab ADGP Law & Order, joins Congress ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024

In a major development, former ADGP Law & Order of Punjab, Gurinder Singh Dhillon on Tuesday joined the Congress party. Last week, Punjab's Senior IPS officer Gurinder Singh Dhillon opted for voluntary retirement after putting 34 years in service. Gurinder Singh Dhillon joined the Congress party in the backdrop of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Votings of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Punjab will take place on June 1 i.e. in Phase 7. 

 

As per reports, Gurinder Singh Dhillon is an IPS officer from the 1997 batch. Dhillon commenced his career as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Jalandhar. Throughout his tenure, he held several roles within the intelligence, anti-drug special task force, bureau of investigation, and other divisions. Hailing from Mulianwal village in Gurdaspur district, Gurinder Singh Dhillon currently lives in Patiala. As per sources in the known development, Congress may field Gurinder Singh Dhillon from Ferozepur seat to fight Lok Sabha Elections 2024. 

 

Before this, IAS officer Parampal Kaur resigned from her post and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Parampal Kaur Sindhu has been fielded from the Bathinda parliamentary seat by the BJP for Lok Sabha Elections. Parampal is also the daughter-in-law of senior Akali Dal leader Sikandar Singh Maluka.
