Punjab Affairs in-charge Harish Rawat met Capt Amarinder on Wednesday and said, “The people of Punjab can expect some relief. I have asked the CM to renegotiate the power tariff with private companies. Providing 300 units of free power too is on the agenda.”

After concluding the three-hour-long meeting with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh amid the discord in the state Congress, he said that he has asked Chief Minister to revise the power tariff with private companies. However, Capt Amarinder said that due to legal limitations all power purchase agreements (PPA) can’t be taken back.

Rawat also asked Capt Amarinder to meet the State Governor over the issue of three farm laws. He said, “The Punjab Government has been pro-active on the farmers’ issue. But the Punjab Governor did not forward the amendments made in the farm laws passed in the Punjab Assembly. I have asked the Chief Minister to take the best possible legal steps in this regards and stand firm with the farmers.”

Before the meeting, Chief Minister, Rawat had a word with other party leaders, including, MP Partap Singh Bajwa, ministers Rana Gumeet Sodhi, Balbir Sidhu and OP Soni, MLAs Barindermeet Pahra, Raja Warring and Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal and a delegation led by Anish Sidana.

Today, it was expected that Navjot Sidhu would meet Congress high command in New Delhi but a new twist has been reported in the tussle between Punjab Chief Minister and Congress president after Navjot Singh Sidhu has to leave Delhi without meeting Gandhis.
