Chandigarh: SeniorIPS officer Bharti Arora, currently posted as the inspector general of policeof Ambala Range in Haryana, has sought voluntary retirement from service citingpersonal grounds, and said she wants to be absorbed in Krishna bhakti bydedicating rest of her life to the service of Lord Sri Krishna.

In a letter to thechief secretary through the director general of police, Arora wrote, “Ivoluntarily submit this application seeking retirement from the service witheffect from August 1, 2021, under rule 16 (2) of All India Services (DCRB)Rules, 1958, after attaining 50 years of age.”

Bharti Arora, a 1998batch IPS officer said now she wishes to achieve the ultimate goal of life. “Iyearn to traverse the path shown by the holy saints such as Guru Nanak Dev,Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Kabirdas, Tulsidas, Surdas, Meerabai, the Sufi saints anddedicate the rest of my life in loving devotional service of Lord Sri Krishna,”she said. Her husband Vikas Arora is also an IPS officer from the same batchand is posted as IG Rewari (south range).

She told that shealways took her service as her pride and passion and added that she haselaborated on the reasons for seeking voluntary retirement after putting in 23years of service.

In her stint as anIPS officer, Arora had handled the 2007 Samjhauta Express train blast case asthen Superintendent of Police (Railways). As the Superintendent of Police ofAmbala, she made hadlines in 2009 by arresting the then BJP MLA Anil Vij,presently holding the Home portfolio in the Khattar government. Apart fromthis, Arora had also been in the news in 2015 for the controversy with hersenior colleague Navdeep Singh Virk. She had accused Virk of obstructing theinvestigation of a rape case and threatening her.

She was transferredto Ambala Range from Karnal in April 2021 as part of a reshuffle in the policeadministration.

In her letter, Arorawrote, “My service has been my pride and passion. I am very grateful to thisservice for providing me with the opportunity to serve, to learn and to grow.My gratitude to the state of Haryana for showing me the right path. It is myhumble request to you to consider my request and allow me to voluntarily retirefrom service with effect from August 1.”

Bharti Arora said shehas no plan of joining politics and her inclination towards spirituality washer sole reason of taking this decision.
