Lockdown-like curbs have been imposed in the state of Haryana. A feature of this is that the shops will stay closed from 6 pm on Friday.

Further, all non-essential gatherings have been banned and "anybody holding any function within the prescribed limit will have to seek permission from the concerned SDM".

The announcement of these curbs comes two days after the state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had assured migrant workers that the state won’t go into lockdown again. The workers were rightly concerned about their livelihood amidst the rising cases.

The spike in the infection cases and deaths due to the pandemic has been alarming for Haryana.
