On Friday, 27th September, a 40-year-old employee working in the HCL company died in the washroom of the office after suffering from a fatal cardiac arrest in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The employee is identified as Nitin Edwin Michael who worked as a senior analyst at HCL Technologies, Nagpur. The police said that the employee was found unresponsive in the washroom of the office around 7pm in the evening. Nitin was married and had a 6-year-old son as well.
After finding him unresponsive, his colleagues immediately took him to AIIMS hospital in Nagpur, but unfortunately, he was declared dead in the hospital.
The Police have sent his body for the post-mortem and have also registered a case of his accidental death. The police official said that according to the autopsy report, Nitin died of cardiac arrest.
An HCLTech spokesperson gave condolences to the employee’s family and said that the wellbeing of all the employees is of the utmost priority for the company. He said, “This is an unfortunate incident and a tragic loss. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased employee and are providing all possible assistance to them. In this incident, the employee was provided emergency support at the campus healthcare clinic and rushed to the hospital. The wellbeing of our people is of utmost priority and HCLTech provides healthcare programs for its all employees and their families, including on-campus clinics and annual preventive health checks."
Recently, On Tuesday, 24th September, a female employee of HDFC bank died because of failing off her chair in the office premises Lucknow. The 45-years-old female employee was identified as Sadaf Fatima. She worked as the deputy vice-president at Vibuti Khand branch of HDFC Bank in Gomti Nagar, Pune.
Reacting to her death, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav had shared a post saying, “The news of the death of a female employee of HDFC in Lucknow after falling from her chair in the office due to work pressure and stress is extremely worrying. Such news is a symbol of the current economic pressure in the country. All companies and government departments will have to think seriously in this regard. This is an irreparable loss of the country's human resources. Such sudden deaths bring the working conditions under question. The real measure of the progress of any country is not the increase in the figures of services or products but it is how mentally free, healthy and happy a person is.”
