The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government in response to a petition filed by former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu. The High Court has sought a status report of the case related to Ashu by the government. Its next hearing will be held on Monday.

Claims are made of an investigation of the complaint against Ashu regarding tendering in the Food Supply Department during his tenure as minister.

Ashu had demanded from the High Court that the government should include him in this investigation. Apart from this, give one week's notice before arrest.

Ashu is being accused of a 2 thousand crore tender scam. Vigilance is probing it. He was accused of malpractices in the labor and transportation tenders in the mandis of Punjab.

Ashu has denied these allegations against him. He said that this tender is approved by the Deputy Commissioner's committee at the district level. So it is not right to hold him responsible for this. He termed it a conspiracy for political vendetta.
