The Hijacking of Flight 601 True Story

Since the incident took place in the 1970s, not much information is available regarding The Hijacking of Flight 601's True Story. However, a New York Times article based on a similar incident was published in the 1970s. The US media report stated that two armed men hijacked a Colombian Avianca airliner with 43 other persons aboard. The hijackers reportedly permitted it to make two stops in Colombia for engine repairs and refueling. Thereafter, they forced the pilot to fly to Cuba. The report quoted an Avianca spokesman saying that the Avro 748 turbo-prop was hijacked shortly after taking off from Bogota on a regularly scheduled flight to Bucaramanga, 190 miles to the north. He said that all those aboard were Colombians.

Notably. not much information was available on The Hijacking of Flight 601 or let's say Colombian Avianca airline hijacking of 1970.

However, the makers shared the trailer with the caption, "When two armed revolutionaries hijack and threaten to blow up Flight 601 unless the Colombian government releases 50 political prisoners and pays them a hefty ransom in cash. When the political leaders refuse to negotiate, the aggressors start shooting one passenger per hour and force the plane to fly across Latin America. Meanwhile, the Captain and two courageous flight attendants try to outwit the hijackers while negotiating with their local officials. Amid the imminent horror, the crew must fight back to return the hostages back home safely. This is a breathtaking political thriller based on actual events on May 30th, 1973."
