Hike in Liquor Price: There is bad news for the people who drink alcohol. Liquor enthusiasts in UP, Delhi, Rajasthan and other places will now have to pay more per bottle. Because of the New Excise Policy, the government has increased the prices of liquor because of rising summer temperature and more.
In UP, on Friday, the prices of quarter bottles of cheap liquor have been increased. Liquor has become expensive by Rs 10 per pack. At the same time, the bottle of quarter priced below Rs 150 has also become costlier by Rs 10, the price of half-bottle by Rs 20 and 750 ml bottle of the same brand has been increased by Rs 40. Due to this those who drink alcohol will have to buy liquor by paying more money than today.
The Confederation of India Alcoholic Beverage Company (CIABC) said in its report that 756 crore beer cans are sold every year in the country's capital Delhi. Of these, 40% of beer is sold during the summer months of April, May, June and July. This year, due to the heavy heat in March itself, the demand for beer increased by 30%. Due to this, there has been a severe shortage of liquor in Delhi.
There is also a severe shortage of beer in Jharkhand. Reports have claimed that for the last 15 days, most of the contracts have been out of stock across Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, there is a requirement of about 4 lakh boxes of beer per day, whereas only 35 to 40 thousand boxes of beer are available.
The Rajasthan State Beverages Corporation Limited (RSBCL) on Saturday claimed a severe shortage of liquor across the state. There is a demand for 1,000 cans of beer per day per shopkeeper in Rajasthan, whereas only 240 cans of beer is being available to every shopkeeper.
According to this, Rajasthan consumes 4.8 crore cans of beer every month, whereas at present only 2.4 crore cans are being supplied to the shopkeepers.
Bengal's government body BEVCO has also said that due to a sudden increase in demand in March this year, there has been a shortage of beer in the state. There is a demand of 2.5 crore beer bottles in the state in April, but due to a short supply of 40%, there is a shortage of beer in the state.
Beer makers have said like Haryana and Telangana to increase prices by up to 15% in other states, saying that the cost will increase amid rising demand in the summer.
