Himachal firm NotOnMap wins Nasscom award for empowering rural communities

The Himachal Pradesh-based firm bagged the prestigious award for bringing a major impact during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Himachal Pradesh based firm - NotOnMap, a sustainable tourism startup has won the 'Emerge 50 Awards 2020' under the 'Bharat Category' by IT industry’s apex body Nasscom.

The firm has bagged the honour for bringing in a significant influence on rural inclusion, education and empowerment through various innovations and initiatives undertaken by the firm during the coronavirus pandemic times. 

Kumar Anubhav, Founder & Director, NotOnMap said in a statement on Friday, "At NotOnMap, we always have moved forward to support and empower the rural communities by helping them capitalize on their untapped culture and heritage value.”

With innovative initiatives like 'TraVival' and 'NotOnMart', the company aims at supporting and boosting the livelihood of farmers, bringing in resources and craftsmen. These initiatives are aiming to increase and generate revenue for the rural pockets in these tough times.

The firm is also working towards providing innovative ideas and solutions to the people for solving the challenges and difficulties faced by rural communities at the grassroots level.

"With our initiatives like 'TraVival' and NotOnMart, we will help rural communities to address the current challenges and train them for travel revival", Kumar said.

Project 'TraVival' has over 150 training videos for homestay owners, Village Panchayats, teachers/youth, women and travellers across the country.

Currently, NotOnMap is operative in more than 14 states in the country helping and working with more than 450 families across various communities.

The firm has been granted 2,50,000 euros from digital travel platform booking.com last year as part of its accelerator programme.

NotOnMap is a one-stop solution for travellers of all budgets, from Students to researchers. They provide a platform for travellers who have the interest to explore culture in rural India with the aim of 80% of the revenue going towards the development of the local people and a part of the revenue goes into the overall development of the village.
