Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday performed the much-awaited Pran Pratishtha rituals and formally opened the newly-built Ayodhya Ram Temple for everyone. Built on an estimated cost of Rs 1800 crore, people of India especially Hindus around the world turned emotional as the 500-years-old struggle finally came to an end with Ram Lalla's idol presence in the sanctum sanctorum. However, there were media portals around the world especially the Western Media and the BBC that covered the Ram Temple inauguration ceremony controversially. Below is how the Western Media covered Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration-

1) BBC

With the headline 'Ayodhya Ram Mandir: India PM Modi inaugurates Hindu temple on razed Babri mosque site', BBC stated that the temple replaces a 16th-Century mosque torn down by Hindu mobs in 1992, sparking riots in which nearly 2,000 people died.

2) New York Times

The New York Times too joined the rant with the headline that said, "Modi Opens a Giant Temple, a Triumph Toward a Hindu-First India". The NYT said, "The temple inaugurated by the Prime Minister is on the disputed site of a centuries-old mosque destroyed in a Hindu mob attack that set a precedent of impunity against Muslims."

3) CNN

CNN at first called Ram Mandir controversial. However, later, it changed the headline to simply, "India's Ayodhya Ram Mandir temple inaugurated by Modi"

4) Al Jazeera

Funded by the government of Qatar, Al Jazeera's headline said, "India’s Modi opens controversial Hindu temple in Ayodhya". Al Jazeera wrote, "Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened a controversial Hindu temple, delivering on a crucial Hindu nationalist pledge that he hopes will catapult the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a record third successive term in upcoming general elections."
