For the first time, a Hindu woman has cracked Pakistan’s prestigious Central Superior Services Examination. Dr. Sana Ramcahnd has been selected for the elite Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS). She is the first Hindu woman who had been selected for PAS after passing CSS.
MBBS doctor Sana Ramchand is from a rural area of the Shikarpur district in Sindh province which constitutes the largest Hindu population in Pakistan. Around 18,553 candidates had appeared for the written exam. Of these 221 were declared successful in the CSS examination. The final selection was made after elaborate medical, psychological, and oral tests.
After the results were declared, Dr, Ramchand tweeted about her allocation to PAS. She expressed her gratitude towards God and her parents. The tweet read, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. I am pleased to share that by the grace of Allah Almighty, I have cleared the CSS 2020 and been allocated to PAS. All credit goes to my parents.”

The competition in the examination was tough as the latest pass percentage in CSS has been less than 2 percent. This shows rigorous standards applied by the Federal Public Service Commission which is responsible for these recruitments.
Pakistan Administrative Service is the top group followed by Pakistan Police Service and Foreign Services of Pakistan and others. Allotted PAS candidates are appointed as Assistant Commissioners and later promoted to administration controlling Districts since the British Raj, District Commissioners.
Along with Sana Ramchand, 79 women made it to the final list and are allotted various groups including PAS. The topper in the examination is also a woman named Maheen Hassan.
People are congratulating Dr. Sana Ramchand on social media for her achievement. A social media user said, “Amidst all the unusual news every day, let’s congratulate Dr #SanaRamchand- the first Hindu female for successfully qualifying #CSS2020Eam, and appointed as an Assistant Commissioner. Proud for All the Hindu Community.”
Political leaders are also congratulating her on her success. A senior leader of Pakistan People Party, Farhutullah Babar said, “Congratulations to Dr, Sana Ramchand. She has made the Hindu community of Pakistan proud, indeed the whole country.”
