The people of India have a totally different craze for hockey as it is the national sport of the country. This time hockey world cup will be hosted in India and before that the trophy will be taken to different states of the country.
On 14th December 2022, FIH Hockey World Cup Trophy was welcomed at Amritsar airport. The trophy was received by Punjab Hockey President Nitin Kohli along with other dignitaries. Now, the trophy has been handed over to Punjab CM Mann. The dignitaries handing over the trophy included Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli, Sports Minister Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Olympian Surinder Singh Sodhi and Surinder Bhapa.
The trophy arrived in Punjab at 7 am at airport. Furthermore, at around 8:30 am World Cup trophy was welcomed at Spring Dale School. After this at 10:45 am trophy welcome function by Guru Nanak Dev University took place. The trophy was then taken to Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. From there trophy went to Jallianwalah Bagh. From there it was taken to Durgiana Temple, Amritsar. Furthermore, the trophy was displayed at VM Mall Amritsar for the public.
