Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Punjab today at around 2 pm. He will be inaugurating the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center of New Chandigarh, Mullanpur.

The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Center is built by the Tata Memorial Center and it costs Rs. 660 crores.

It is the first Cancer Hospital and Research Center that has opened in Punjab.

The hospital built has the capacity of 300 beds and will be fully equipped with modern facilities related to cancer treatment. The OPD of Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Preventive Oncology and Anesthesia has been started.

Apart from this, modern facilities like MRI, CT, Mammography, Digital Radiography, etc will also be available here. The center also offers chemotherapy for biopsy, superficial surgery and daycare for minor OTs.

Reportedly, this hospital will be completely ready in 6 months. All its 300 beds will be made operational. With this, not only Punjab but also the patients of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan will get world-class cancer treatment.

The hospital will result in a transformation of the healthcare system in Punjab as people won’t have to visit AIIMs, Apollo Hospital, etc to get their treatments done.
