The administration has provided relief to businessmen amid the Corona epidemic. Hotels, restaurants and shops of tea, sweets, dhabas and other essential items coming in the periphery of Shimla city will now be open all day on Sunday.
SDM Shimla Urban Manjeet Sharma has issued these new orders, partially amending the orders of 17 July. Every Sunday, shops of essential commodities including tea and sweets in Shimla urban area will now be open from 10 am to 7 pm.
Tourist places in other parts of the country as Uttarakhand, Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala have been opened for visitors and in the times of competition, it would have badly affected Himachal if the state government hadn’t eased the rules on weekends.
Tourism Industry Stakeholders Association president Mohinder Seth said the hotel industry in the state had decided to close their businesses on their own in March and they had already lost much time of the earning season in the state.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Himachal Pradesh had barred the entry of tourists in March to check the spread of the Novel Coronavirus and this had led to many hotels in tourist destinations such as Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala to file for closure.
