New Year celebrations are all set to start, so to maintain law and order in the coming days Chandigarh Traffic Police have issued various guidelines and advisories regarding the traffic arrangement and punishments if caught breaking the rules during New year celebrations. Certain areas have been declared as traffic zones to maintain peace.
As per the latest advisory, On 31st December 2022, a few roads will be completely closed for vehicles to pass from 10 pm to 2 am. If people are residents of those areas, then they are advised to have identity proof with them to get entry. Reportedly, Sector 7, 8, 9, 10, 17’s Inner Market Road, the road opposite Museum & Art Gallery in Sector 10, Aroma Light Point in Sector 22 to Small Chowk near the dispensary will remain closed on December 31st.
Chandigarh Traffic Police have added if anybody is caught in case of drinking and driving then the driver’s license will be suspended there & then. People responsible for creating hooliganism in the Tricity will also face serious consequences. Police caught 4 vehicles and 18 people in a drinking and driving case on 28th December 2022.
The traffic police have also announced that a one-way traffic system will be followed on Elante Mall Road. No cars, scooters, bikes or cycles will be marked on the main road. Also, police will be on patrolling continuously, so if anyone is found violating the law strict legal action will be taken against them.
