200 Kashmiris have been booked under the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for 'misusing online platforms.'

The police said, "The FIR has been registered while taking congnizance of the social media posts by the miscreants by use of different VPNs, which are propagating rumors with regard to the current security scenario of the Kashmir valley, propagating secessionist ideology and glorifying terror acts/terrorists. A lot of incriminating material has also been seized in this regard."

Iltija Mufti, voiced against the scenario and said that it was absurd that Kashmiris were not allowed to use social media. She said, "I will go to Kashmir and use VPN. Let them slap FIR against me."

Iltija also denounced the government's act for using the term Daddy's girl for her mother Mehbooba Mufti in the dossier submitted while imposing PSA against her. She added that she was not speaking as her Mummy's girl and certainly tags were not essential to prove patriotism for the country.

J&K UT government after restoring 2G network in the valley had issued an order debarring all social media sites to stop the misuse of the sites by misceants for preaching false information and rumours. The ban was ordered to hamper the rumour-mongering and spreading false and fabricated facts which are capable enough to stir social instability.

As per the sources, it is to be noted here that several mediapersons allegedly preaching separatist ideology have been identified.
