The members of Indian Medical Association, today, heldpublic demonstrations across the state to raise voice against the notificationregarding amendment to regulation of postgraduate Ayurveda Education issued byCentral Council of Indian System of Medicine ( CCIM).
Dr. Navjot Dahiya and Dr. Paramjit mann, president andsecretary respectively of IMA, Punjab, while strongly condemning the amendment, demanded its immediate withdrawal.
“If such a mixing up of all the systems is allowed, thelife of the patients will be at great risk”, said the IMA office bearers whilemaintaining that the purity of each system of medicine should be maintained andallowed to excel in its own field otherwise such a practice would destroy boththe scientifically developed modern healthcare system as well as the greatlyrespected ancient Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda.
“The Ayurveda practitioners should be allowed to excel intheir own system and provide people with choice of alternative system oftreatment rather than allowing them to practice allopathy by backdoor”, theysaid.
Moreover, theAyush ministry should develop basic infrastructure and rigorous training moduleson par with international standards before embarking upon the path ofempowering Ayush Practitioners to do surgeries, they further added.
