Sounding the protest bugle against the Punjab state government in fee hike of MBBS course, medical students across the state will express their anger against the state government in a peaceful manner virtually. In this regard, the INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION - MEDICAL STUDENTS NETWORK (IMA MSN Punjab) will be expressing their protest against the government.

IMA MSN General Secretary Rakesh Kaul said that all the members of the association across the state on Wednesday will oppose the government's decision by putting black cats. He said that after the decision of the government, the students studying medical will be financially burdened. The dreams of poor children to become doctors will not be fulfilled. In these circumstances, the students who become doctors will go towards education of other trade, due to which the health system of the country will become weak.

As per ISM MSN Punjab, State Patron, Tanveer Dahiya, CMO Punjab  said on social media that the intern working during COVID-19 crisis will be given a 15,000 rupees per month stipend, however  no official letter was released. Due to this, many private colleges in the state increased the fees, but the increase in stipend is being denied.

The IMA-MSN research body (Harmanjot Singh Kalra, Pratyush Sachdeva, Yuvraj Kaushal) claims that the fee: stipend ratio is amongst the nationwide highest in Punjab with relatively poor infrastructure.

Recently, the CMO Punjab also tweeted about increasing the stipend for interns working during the COVID-19 pandemic to ₹15,000/month. Many private colleges in Punjab, while charging exorbitant fees refused to increase the stipend, thus not complying with the orders from the CMO Punjab.
