Punjab Truck Operators Union President Happy Sandhu has said that his union has not called off any strike against the Hit-and-Run law made against the drivers by the Centre. The protesters say that truck operators will gather in Phillaur on January 5. He said that the Central Government has not abolished the laws but some pro-government operators are deliberately announcing the end of the strike.
The law introduced by the central government states that truck drivers responsible for a major hit-and-run accident can face upto 10 years imprisonment and a fine of 7 lakhs.
