In a first, online refresher workshop for 150 Government School Principals held

Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) at Indian School of Business launched the Refresher Online Workshop on today for directly recruited Principals of Senior Secondary Schools of Punjab School Education Department, selected through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

Kulwinder Kaur, Principal, Government Senior Secondary Smart School Khara, Faridkot focussed on Basic Infrastructure and Academics while Subhash Chander Nain, Principal, Government Senior Secondary School, Kalalwala, Bhatinda emphasised on basic necessities as well as motivation of students during the pandemic.

Narinder Singh, Government Senior Secondary School, Kirtowal Kalan, Tarn Tarn took the initiatives of beautification of campus and quality education in the the past one year after the Introductory Training on “Motivation and Leadership” conducted by Indian School of Business (ISB). Such examples are galore and will be presented and shared by the participants during the three-day training being conducted by the prestigious Indian School of Business.

Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) at Indian School of Business launched the Refresher Online Workshop on 23rdFeb, 2021 for directly recruited Principals of Senior Secondary Schoolsof Punjab School Education Department, selectedthrough Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).150 participants willbe trained during the refresher workshop. The module is a consequent course, after a year of initial trainings for this group of Principals

As per Dr Aarushi Jain, Associate Director, Indian School of Business, as course coordinator of this training, “The current pandemic has posed a huge challenge for every sector and education sector has been equally impacted. The workshop is a part of an overarching project titled ‘Improving Quality of Education in Punjab’, that ISB is undertaking with the Department of School Education, Punjab”. “The school level initiatives taken by Principals during this challenging time are commendable and exemplary”, she added.

The unique initiative is among the various dynamic steps undertaken by Mr Krishan Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education, Punjab. The idea is to orient and provide appropriate direction toprincipals who are at the beginning of their careers. The training has been designed with a special focus on critical roles of principals as decision-makers, team leadersand other functional areas. The goal is to build capacities in government schools in the state and provide the newly recruited principals much needed impetus and exposure on management concepts.

Senior faculty members from ISB and experts from the education sector are the experts for the training. Prof Doreswamy Nandkishore, ISB who is a top corporate leader will discuss aspects around Adaptive Leadership and Change Management and Prof Rajeshwar Upadhyay, Director, Par Excellence is focussing on Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal Relationship, during the training. Dr Aarushi Jain, Associate Director, use case method and simulation to help participants understand the team building process and group dynamics. Prof Vijaya Sunder, Operations Management faculty at ISB will be taking expert sessions on Project Management during this training.

Prof Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director, Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB laid emphasis on the commitment of institute to work closely with the governments and provide management insightsto Government Officials to improve public service delivery at the grassroots.
