India banned 54 Chinese applications including Free Fire and Viva Video Editor

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology found that all of these apps were sending data from Indian users to China and other countries during its investigation.

India has executed yet another major cyber surgical attack against China. The Chinese government has outlawed 54 apps that pose a threat to national security. Popular applications like Free Fire, Beauty Camera, and Sweet Selfie HD are among them.
Selfie Camera, Equalizer & Bass Booster, CamCard for Salesforce Ant, Isoland 2: Ashes of Time Lite, Viva Video Editor, Tencent XRiver, Onmoji Chase, Onmoji Arena, Free Fire, AppLock, and Dual Space Lite are among the apps that have been blocked.


Users were releasing information.
In its examination, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology discovered that all of these apps were transmitting data from Indian users to China and other countries. Users' data was also reaching overseas servers via these apps. Other outlets, including Google's Play Store, have been asked to remove these apps by the authorities.

Earlier, 59 Chinese apps were banned.
The Indian government had already said that Chinese apps would be prohibited on June 29, 2020. 59 apps were blocked on June 29, 2020, during the first digital strike. Following that, on July 27, 2020, 47 applications were banned, 118 on December 2, 2020, and 43 on November 2, 2020. The Ministry of Information Technology has prohibited all of these apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
