India completes one year coping up with Covid-19, virus toll drops

Mexico's Covid toll topped 1,55,000 with over 15,00 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

The first case of Covid-19 was recorded in India on Saturday, January 30 last year. According to a report published in Times of India, the country dropped at number four on Friday regarding the death toll from the virus with Mexico surpassing India's cumulative toll.

Mexico's Covid toll topped 1,55,000 with over 15,00 deaths reported in the past 24 hours. As per reports, there is a considerable drop in the number of deaths in India.

India has been reporting less than 200 deaths every day for over 14 days now. Daily toll in America hovers around 5,000 and some of the countries have daily toll of over 1,000. Till Thursday, US has recorded maximum deaths due to Covid-19 to 4.4 lakh.

The cases of Covid-19 rose in India from late August to October last year. India now has recorded over 13,000 fresh cases and at least 133 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the country has already rolled out vaccines: Covishield and Covaxin with mass inoculation drive starting from January 16.
