Recently, the maximum temperature in India touched 50 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Various states in India have seen an all-time high in temperature this summer. Heatwave alerts have been issued in various areas like Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Finally, the people of India will get some relief from 30th May 2024. As per reports, above-normal rainfall is expected this monsoon season. The rain will give much-needed respite from the ongoing heatwave sweeping the whole country. Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday stated that India will experience a fresh spell of rains starting from 30th May.

IMD Chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra stated, “The South West Monsoon rainfall over the country as a whole is likely to be 106% of the long-period average with a model error of 4%. Thus, above-normal rainfall is most likely over the country as a whole.” This climatic change that India is going through is because of the El Nino effect. The above-normal rainfall will be witnessed between August to September.

The IMD officers stated that while earlier they issued alerts regarding the heatwave as per the latest reports, the temperature will start cooling down from 30th May. Rainfall in Punjab is likely to start from 22nd June 2024. Delhi people are likely to experience rain starting from 17th June 2024. These rainfalls are due to western disturbances over northwest India. The above rainfall has however made the farmers worried for their crops.

Coastal Bengal is likely to receive very rainfall due to Cyclone Remal's landfall in Bangladesh.
