India Independence Day: Don’ts to keep in mind if you are planning to hoist the Tricolour

Some points should be kept in mind while hoisting so that you don’t disrespect the National Flag of the country.

Independence-Day 15th-August India

The 75th Independence Day will be celebrated all over India with elation and excitement. Almost every person in the country hoists the National Flag at different places, be it their home, office, institutions, etc.

Did you know that there are certain guidelines under which a National Flag should be hoisted?

Some points should be kept in mind while hoisting so that you don’t disrespect the National Flag of the country.

Here are the rules and regulations to fly the flag high according to the Flag Code of India 2002.

The first and the most important point to be kept in mind is that the flag displayed should not be damaged or disheveled. There should be nothing written on the National Flag of India.

The flag should be hoisted above any other flag, it should not be lowered in salute to anything or even a person.

The flag should never be half-mast until and unless any instructions have been issued by the Government.

Another important thing that should be kept in mind is that if you are planning to wear any costume on the Independence then it is not a good idea. According to the Flag Code of India 2002 flag should not be used as a portion of a costume or uniform of any description nor shall it be embroidered or printed upon cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, or any dress material.

So, if plans related to the hoisting of National Flags include even one of the points stated above then rethink.

The National Flag was adopted in its present form during the meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on 22 July 1947, a few days before India’s independence

.

On 26th January 2002, the Indian flag code was modified and after several years of independence, the citizens of India were finally allowed to hoist the Indian National Flag.
