India extends 1.4 million dollar as financial assistance to Maldives

The two countries signed 4 pacts, visa facilitation being one of them

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed 4 pacts with the Maldives President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Both the sides have vowed to deepen security cooperation in the Indian Ocean region. For this purpose, PM Modi announced a 1.4 million dollar assistance to Maldives.

        "We held successful talks in a cordial atmosphere. We vowed to strengthen ties," Modi said in his press statement, with Solih by his side. "We will not allow our countries to be used for activities which can be harmful to each other's interests," the Indian Prime Minister further added.

     Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was sworn in as the President of Maldives on 17th of November, this year and the ceremony was attended by Narender Modi as well. On Sunday, Sohli arrived in India for a three-day state visit.
