The Mumbai Police's attempt to implicate Republic TV in a fake TRP Scam case has started to backfire them as many hidden reports have started to come out. Digital Web Portal OP India on Friday revealed that India Today was asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,00,000 after their explanation did not satisfactorily explain the increase in India Today viewership by the BARC Disciplinary Council. A show-cause notice was sent to TV Today Network Ltd and BARC regarding viewership malpractice on 27th April 2020, according to our sources.

Arnab Goswami also lashed out at India Today and Mumbai Police Commissioner for hiding the details and manipulating the FIR against the Republic channel. He said, "I have nothing more to say this is all political. They want to take us out because we are putting out the truth on Hathras, on Sushant Singh Rajput's case They have problems that we question their inaction on the killing of Sadhus in Palghar. Now we have showcased the FIR, the Mumbai Police Commissioner will pick up anyone and terrorize him to give a statement against Republic. But on the India Today group on which serious facts have emerged Param Bir Singh silence will take him nowhere."

Now, India Today has confirmed the report that they were fined Rs 5 lakh. India Today released a statement and said, "In a separate matter, BARC has fined India Today without presenting any concrete evidence or convening a proper judicial committee. The issue had been under contention with them, but since they have leaked the confidential hearings, the India Today Group will consider appropriate legal recourse to get justice."

Now questions are raising on the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh that whether he had any facts or he just targetted Republic media on the basis of personal animosity?
