Comparison of passports of all countries in the study has revealed that India's passport is the second cheapest passport in the world. The results said that while it is the second cheapest passport overall, it is also the cheapest passport in the world in terms of annual cost of validity. As per the study, UAE passport was the cheapesrt overall.

 

Australian firm Compare the Market AU has compared the cost of passports of different countries in its study. The study also compared the cost of passport validity every year. This also includes a comparison of how many countries one can get visa free entry into using a country's passport.

 

According to a press statement issued by the Australian firm, the price of an Indian passport for a 10-year validity is $18.07 (Rs 1,505), while the UAE charges $17.70 (Rs 1,474) for a 5-year passport.

 

Indian passport is cheap but it offers visa free entry only in limited countries. Indian passport holders can enter visa free only in 62 countries. This is in contrast to countries like Australia, America and Canada, which have expensive passports but offer visa-free entry to more countries.

 

In the study, UAE passport remained on top in every aspect, whether it is the world's cheapest passport or visa free access. The study said that Indian passport is the cheapest in terms of annual cost. For one-year validity of Indian passport, one has to pay only 1.81 dollars (150 rupees). After this, the cheapest passports in terms of cost every year were from South Africa ($3.05, Rs 254) and Kenya ($3.09, Rs 257).
