Indian Railway Board launches courses like BTech, MBA, MSc, read to know the details

Indian Railways has initiated seven academic programmes in the core applied sector. The programmes include BTech, MBAs and MSc programmes. Check the details here.

The Indian Railway Board has taken up the responsibility to train students by the needs and requirements of the Railway Infrastructure. National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), Vadodara on Thursday had launched seven educational programmes. These academic programmes are initiated with the purpose to build much-required skills and expertise for railway infrastructure management, systems and communication engineering and transportation cum supply chain management. 

The seven academic programmes introduced by Indian Railways are two BTech undergraduate programmes, two MBA, and three MSc programmes in the core applied sector.

The purpose of all these academic programmes initiated by Indian Railways is to strengthen the railways and provide the passengers with better services. As per a statement issued by the Indian Railways had stated the purposes of the programmes.

1. The two BTech programmes will concentrate on rail infrastructure, rail systems and communications engineering

2. The MBA programmes are directed towards transportation and supply chain management which are of highest priority in the coming years.

3. The MSc programmes will concentrate on the systems engineering and integration, systems and analytics, policy and economics which are the most important areas the country is looking forward to in bringing improvement. 

4. MSc systems engineering and integration programme will be offered by the University of Birmingham, UK. This course will provide international exposure to students. 

Indian Railways is aiming to target the industry-academic partnership. NRTI has adopted an interdisciplinary method for research of transport systems. 

The railway is also trying to balance and use the industry-academic partnerships and collaborations for the programmes by uniting academicians, scientists, and engineers from various backgrounds, said the Chairman and CEO of Railway Board VK Yadav.

Yadav said, “NRTI intends to develop a set of core values--dedication to nation-building, commitment to innovation and academic excellence, compassion towards people and society, and responsibility towards the environment. It offers project-based learning at Railway establishments.”

All the important fundamental characteristics of the programmes will be implemented having Indian Railways at its centre. 

The Railway Board CEO further added, “It will serve as an experiential learning laboratory for the student community as well as the faculty development initiatives, thereby creating a distinct character for the University through a highly experiential and application-based learning approach. The students passing out of these programs as tomorrow’s citizens could add great value in nation-building.”
