KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is South Asia biggest queer film festival and the only LGBT film festival in India to be held in a mainstream theatre.

Theme of KASHISH 2019 festival is “Over the Rainbow”. It is not only recalling the reading down of sec 377 and decriminalization of same-sex relationships in India, but also defines the challenges in store for the LGBTQ community journey towards empowerment and social acceptance.

The 10th Anniversary edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival is planned to be held from June 12 – 16, 2019 at two venues – Liberty Carnival Cinemas (June 12-13) and Metro INOX (June 14-16).

The festival is considered one of the important annual events in Mumbai cultural calendar and attracts audiences from across India and international guests. The festival has been graced in previous years by numerous Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities.

The actress Kubra Sait firmly believes in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. she attended the 10th Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival and resonated her voice.

Elaborating her thoughts she said, "It's like a badge of honour. When I did Kuckoo (Sacred Games), people asked me that why being a cisgender you need to do a role like this? For me, the role was about emotional growth and not just a character. For me, hosting this festival would be like another growth and I have never shied away from growth. Their hearts open to welcome me as part of their community. That is something which I am going to be eternally grateful for.”
