Industrial units in Punjab may start operations amid lockdown after applying online

The industrial units which want to start operations subject to compliance of Standard Operating Procedure mentioned under guidelines issued by Department of Home affairs & Justice Government of Punjab last week can apply online on Industries and Commerce Department's site and start operations.

State Industries Minister  Sunder Sham Arora disclosed this information. He added that a  dedicated link https://pbindustries.gov.in/static/covidIndustryPermission has been created to facilitate the operationalization during curfew period. 

The minister further said the concerned General Managers of District Industries Centres have been authorized by respective Deputy Commissioners to issue the permissions. 

It may be recalled ​in accordance with the guidelines issued by Ministry of Home, Government of India on 15 of April, 2020, subsequent orders were issued by Department of Home affairs & Justice Government of Punjab on April 18 which allowed ertain Industrial units to function subject to compliance of Standard Operating Procedure mentioned under the aforesaid guidelines.

The provision of permission for construction activities to be granted by General Manager, District Industries Centre, wherever authorized by Deputy Commissioners is also available through this portal. 

The provision of SMS alert to investor at the time of submission and approval of application has also been made in the above portal.

Online facility shall reduce the time in obtaining the required permissions and also dispense with the physical visits to offices for obtaining such permissions, the Minister added.
