Integrated Teacher Education Program in science and humanities all set to be launched from next year

The National Council for Teacher Education has called for the applicants from the central universities, state universities, degree collages and private universities for further proceedings to start next academic session will start from 2020 till 4 years.

Two programs were planned: one offered to generate qualified teacher for pre-primary to primary level classes and the other for upper primary to secondary level classes.  The courses are designed to induce “world best practices” in teaching field, promising to produce “committed, responsible and professional” teacher who would improve the quality of the school education.

The applicant must have received “formal education” from a recognized public, private or government-aided institution and have passed senior secondary with at least 50% marks.  

The reservation policy as framed by the government will remain applicable for the students in the admission process. After the completion of the program the students will receive BA or B Sc degree according to the choice of the stream along with a qualifying degree for teaching jobs in schools.

The program will comprise of eight semesters including an internship program. A student unable to finish the course in any semester is permitted to complete the course within 6 years from the date of admission.

The minimum attendance of students shall be 80% in all the courses and the students on field-based experience or teaching practice will have to maintain 90% attendance. The admission will be made on the merit basis considering the marks obtained in entrance exam and at Senior Secondary level.
