Indianapolis: At the annual IUPUI International Festival on February 21 at the IUPUI Campus Center, Bihu dance from Assam, an excerpt from Pushpanjali which is an invocatory piece in Bharatanatyam dance and mango lassi (a smoothie-like drink) will showcase Indian diversity.

The IUPUI International Festival is a lively event for students, staff, faculty, and community members to celebrate the diversity of cultures at IUPUI and connect with the international opportunities and resources, according to IUPUI Office of International Affairs. 

DesiJags, performing in the Indian dance style known as Bihu, is slated from 1130 hrs. Bihu is the state festival of Assam. The Bihu dance is an indigenous folk dance which is related to the Bihu festival. Bihu is derived from Sanskrit word "Vishu”. The Bihu festival marks the cycle of farming in Assam (India).

Vidyani Suryadevara will be performing classical Indian folk dance of Pushpanjali, an offering of flowers to the Indian Gods at 1210 hrs. Indy Samba (Brazilian dance), traditional Chinese Lion dance, PIE Fulbright Argentina performing Argentinian songs, Tai Chi demonstration by  Chinese Culture Club, Jumana Radwan of the Muslim Student Association, African Student Association Afrobeats and Dancehall dance and World Languages and Culture, global poetry reading will be other attractions of the IUPUI International Festival.
