International Yoga Day 2021: Here’s all you need to know about India's Big Role

Yoga is for everyone, regardless of social status, caste, or rank. Yoga brings people together, and it makes the mind and body happy and healthy. Yoga may be practiced by people from all walks of life, and it is quickly being known as the most friendly and trustworthy method to keep fit.

In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly passed a draught resolution declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day. A total of 177 countries support the resolution. Yoga enthusiasts can be found in every world today.

Indian consulates and missions are conducting yoga events with the participation of locals in the run-up to International Yoga Day. The Indian High Commission in Canberra shared images of a curtain-raiser in honour of International Yoga Day. Many countries are implementing similar programs.


Yoga is said to have originated in India thousands of years ago. The word "yoga" appears in ancient Indian texts such as the Rig Veda, the earliest of the Vedas. According to scholars, Vedic sages recorded their practices in the Upanishads, which offer incredibly valuable core Indian philosophical teachings.
