After the Madras High Court today lashed out against the Election Commission and said the ECI officials should be booked for murder charges for its failure in preventing political parties from breaching Covid-19 protocol, the internet can’t stop lauding the brave remarks made by Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy.

Soon after the Madras HC held ECI responsible for covid19 crisis, the netizens took to twitter to further troll the ECI over its gross negligence in allowing polls amid pandemic. They also appreciated the sheer audacity of the two judges and said they did what the Indians were expecting from the Supreme Court.

The first bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy while hearing a plea moved by state Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskhar said: "You (EC) are the only institution responsible for the situation we are in today and You have been singularly lacking any kind of exercise of authority. You have not taken measures against political parties holding rallies despite the court saying "Maintain Covid protocol, maintain Covid protocol."

However, when the standing counsel for the Election Commission, Advocate Niranjan Rajagopalan submitted that measures were put in place to ensure covid safety norms are practiced during counting, the Chief Justice orally remarked, "Were you on another planet when political rallies were being held?"

Actress Swara Bhasker took to twitter and said, “Thankyou Madras High Court for saying this”.

Meanwhile, many other celebrities, politicians and ofcourse the people who were the most affected due to this surge in cases and lauded the remarks of the HC saying this criticism was the need of the hour. “Finally someone dared to speak up against the ECI which was working hand in gloves with the centre government”, reads a tweet.
