IPL Media Rights Auction LIVE: Today is a very important day for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). An auction is going on in Mumbai regarding the media rights of the Indian Premier League (IPL). These auctions are being held for the circle from the year 2023 to 2027 and BCCI is expecting a 'rain' of money. Currently, the media rights of IPL are with Disney-Star, this contract ends with IPL 2022.

Who participated in the Media Rights Auction?

This time the BCCI has kept the base price of IPL media rights at more than Rs 32 thousand crores. For which many companies in the entertainment world are face to face. Reliance's Viacom-18, Zee, Sony, and Star-Disney are included in the auction which is going on in Mumbai on June 12.

Earlier Amazon was also in the race for media rights, but on the same day, Amazon withdrew its name from this auction. According to the report, the auction of IPL media rights is going on in full swing. So far the mega price has crossed 42 thousand crores and it is also likely to cross 50 thousand crores.

This is three times the previous media rights auction. The special thing is that 42 thousand crore rupees have been bid for only two packages. These include TV rights and digital rights, the number of entire media rights can be very high.

What is the rate and method of this time?

Because now a lot has changed and more emphasis is being given to digital. This is the reason why media rights have been divided into four packages from IPL 2023 to IPL 2027.

•   TV Media Rights
•   Digital Media Rights
•   Rights of playoff matches
•   Rights outside the Indian continent

These packages have been divided on the basis that 74 matches should be arranged every year in the coming three seasons and 94 matches in the last two seasons. A separate base price has been kept for each package, after which the bidding will start.

TV Media Rights has a base price of Rs 49 crores per match, Digital Media Rights has a base price of Rs 33 crores per match, Package C has a price of Rs 11 crores per match and Package D has a price of Rs 3 crores per match.

Will the amount cross 50 thousand crores?

Everyone was surprised when BCCI kept the base price of media rights at Rs 32,000 crore. Because TV ratings were very low in IPL 2022, even after this it did not make any difference to IPL. According to the base price, it was believed that the bidding in the auction could go up to 60 thousand crores.

Because earlier there was an expectation of a fight between big companies like Amazon and Reliance. However, with Amazon pulling its name back, this hope seems bleak. Even after this, if the auction goes up to 50 thousand crores, then it will not be a surprise. The special thing is that this time TV rights and digital rights can also be bought by different companies.

What statement did BCCI President Sourav Ganguly give?

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also stated the IPL Media Rights Auction. Sourav Ganguly says that the IPL earns more than the Premier League, so now it is moving ahead as the biggest sports event in the world. IPL is run by the people of the country, crores of cricket fans of India take it forward.
