Reliance, India’s largest telecom company by user base, announced on Monday, March 17, that recharges above Rs 299 will allow its consumers to watch the IPL 2025 for free for the next two and a half months.
Streaming IPL in 4K resolution consumes a lot of data. Therefore, subscribing to an unlimited broadband plan for an uninterrupted experience can be ideal. However, if you live in an area with excellent 5G coverage, this may not be necessary, as both Airtel and Jio offer unlimited data on select recharge plans, which should be sufficient for streaming live cricket matches. For a seamless 4K streaming, it is recommended to have internet with at least 25 Mbps, and therefore a plan with at least 50 Mbps for a no-buffering streaming experience can be ideal, which should cost less than Rs 1,000 from most internet service providers.
Unlike previous years when JioCinema provided free IPL streaming, IPL 2025 will be streamed on the JioHotstar platform, which is formed after the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. Viewers may only be able to watch a few minutes of each match for free, after which a subscription will be required.
IPL 2025 will be played across 13 venues. Ten of these will serve as home grounds for the respective franchises, while a few selected games will be hosted at additional locations.
Most IPL 2025 matches will start at 7:30 PM IST on regular match days. On double-header days, the first match will be played at 3:30 PM IST.
