The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended for one week. The IPL Governing Council on Friday took to their social media handles and made the announcement. IPL 2025 Suspension came in the backdrop of ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. Notably, the PBKS vs DC had to be called off in the middle of the match after Dharamshala and other parts of Himachal Pradesh underwent blackout. Below what IPL's official statement says-
"The remainder of ongoing TATAIPL 2025 suspended with immediate effect for one week.
The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces and the people of our country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation, as they lead a resolute response to the recent terrorist attack and the unwarranted aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces."
It is pertinent to mention here that IPL Governing Council has not made any comments over whether there will be any change of venues and what will the status of tickets that have been already sold. It means, if the situation normalises then IPL 2025 will resume after May 16, 2025. However, True Scoop still appeals to you to wait for the official announcement of dates and new schedules.
Vice-President BCCI, Rajiv Shukla said, "IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week in view of the current situation. The new schedule for the tournament will be announced after consultation with all stakeholders. We are proud of the Indian Army. BCCI stands with our Armed Forces and the government."
