Iran: ISIS claims responsibility for Shia Mosque’s firing; 15 dead & 40 injured

Two attackers have been arrested while the third one is still absconding.

An incident surfaced on Wednesday from Iran where 15 innocent people lost their lives and 40 were brutally injured after mass firing took place at Shia Mosque. According to the information revealed by IRNA, three men came and open fired at people who have come to visit the holy site.

Earlier, the only information about the attackers available was that they were not citizens of Iran. The reports released stated that three armed men entered the mosque and open fired at people which left 15 people dead and 40 injured. Sometime after, ISI the terrorist organization issued a statement and claimed responsibility of the attack. The statement read, “Open firing in the mosque. 15 killed and many injured.”

The deployed police officer informed that the attackers entered the Shia mosque and started firing. Two attackers have been arrested while the third one is still absconding. The deceased include a woman and 2 children. This attack comes days after an anti-hijab protest took place in Iran after Mahsa Amini’s death. This mass firing has raised several questions on the security of Iran as such an incident took place even after all the police forces have already been deployed to control the anti-hijab demonstrations in the country.

Reportedly, the firing took place in the mosque when preparations were being done to offer Namaz.
