While China often grabs the global headline due to the multiple bizarre developments in the nation, the Communist nation came under the scanner of social media yet again, and this time it's all because of Hangzhou Zoo. Recently a video went viral on social media from Hangzhou Zoo in which people were seen enjoying their time and watching a sun bear kept there. Hangzhou Zoo video recently went viral in which a Sun bear was present. However, the Hangzhou Zoo bear video came under scrutiny after many social media users pointed out that the animal in the video might not be real but a human in disguise. Many users pointed out that their suspicion and suggested that the human might be wearing a leather costume of a sun bear. A few others pointed out the fact that a bear cannot stand that much. After the Hangzhou Zoo sun bear video went viral on social media, the administration was forced to issue a statement on the matter.

As per reports, Hangzhou Zoo denied the speculation that it has kept humans in disguise as bears and also issued a clarification. A Malaysian daily quoted zookeepers at Hangzhou zoo who informed: “When it comes to bears, the first thing that comes to mind is a huge figure and amazing power … But not all bears are behemoths and danger personified. We Malayan bears are petite, the smallest bear in the world.” Apart from this an audio is also going viral on WeChat in which a spokesperson for the zoo can be heard saying that the animal was real and that such deception would not happen at a state-run facility. He also noted that in the 40C (104F) summer temperature, a human in a fur bear suit “would not last more than a few minutes before collapsing”.

As per the Chinese zoo, Sun bears are the smallest bear species in the world. They are generally the size of a large dog. Furthermore, Hangzhou Zoo's post notes that the bears stand around 1.3m (4ft) tall when standing up on their hind legs, which is less than half the size of grizzly bears native to North America.
