The central government has been widely chastised for its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, including the staging of the Kumbh Mela festival, which drew lakhs of people, and the hosting of crowded election rallies led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other politicians.

Now Farhan Akhtar comes forward against the government and its policies. He took to his twitter handle to criticise the government and its policies.

Another user said,” You read newspaper, it’s filled with criticism of the govt. You open social media, it’s filled with criticism of the govt. You read messages on phone, it’s filled with jokes on govt. And then they say there is a curb on free speech and criticism of the govt. Next...?

Two days earlier, Farhan Akhtar questions over ordering of coronavirus vaccines by some countries. He said that is this true that some of the countries are over ordering coronavirus vaccines five times over their population?

In a world where healthcare services have been overwhelmed, people have taken to social media to plead for hospital beds, oxygen, and medication after the country received more than 3 lakh infections per day over the past three weeks.

The government has also been accused of lapses in its inoculation policy, including not ordering enough doses at first and then pushing on most of the responsibility to states. It is one of the few countries where vaccinations are not free.

Despite the fact that India is the world's largest vaccine producer, only 14.16 crore people, or roughly 10% of the country's 135 million people, have received at least one vaccine dose, according to health ministry data. Just over 4 crore people, or 2.9 percent of the country's population, have been fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile Farhan Akhtar is taking a jab over the government policies.
