Is India expecting 4th wave of Covid-19? Know why PM holds Covid review meeting

India is expecting the fourth wave of Corona as more than two thousand new cases have been reported for the 7th consecutive day. In the last 24 hours, the country has reported 2,483 new cases of covid. At the same time, the country’s capital Delhi is also witnessing an increase in covid cases. In a single day, Delhi reported 1204 new covid cases. On Monday, around 1011 cases were found in Delhi. 

Due to all this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be conducting a meeting with the Chief Ministers of all states on 27th April i.e. today. The meeting is related to the increasing covid cases, it can be a discussion-centric meeting. Based on a report, the Health Minister of Karnataka said that India can witness the fourth wave of Corona in June. The rise of cases can be on its peak in June. 

When is the meeting going to start?

Prime Minister’s meeting with all the Chief Minister’s of different states will start around noon. The meeting will be conducted on Wednesday through video conferencing and the increasing covid cases in the country will be discussed. The country has seen a rapid increase in cases in the last few days, more than 2 thousand patients have appeared in the country. The biggest concern is about the country’s capital Delhi which has got more than 1 thousand cases on daily basis. 

The effect of the 4th wave will remain till October, meanwhile, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar also quoted that by the end of June, the 4thwave of corona may be at its peak. Referring to the study of IIT Kanpur, he said that its effect will remain till October. With concern on this matter, the Karnataka government has made wearing face masks and social distancing mandatory in the state.

America’s Vice President tested positive for Covid: 

Kamala Harris, the US Vice President has also tested positive for Covis-19. Although, she is not having any symptoms still she isolated herself. She will continue with her work from the government residence itself. 

How many cases have recovered?

Around 1,970 cases have been recovered in the last 24 hours. Talking about the active number of cases of corona in the country is 15, 636 while the positivity rate has come down to 0.55%. IIT Madras, previously reported 32 new cases and the figure now has reached 111. 

After this, the number of people recovering from corona in the country increased to 4,25,23,311 and the recovery rate is 98.75%. According to ICMR, 4,49,197 sample tests were done for corona in India yesterday. A total of 83,54,69,014 sample tests have been done in the country till now.

Assam reported 1347 and Kerala 47 chronic deaths 

In the last 24 hours, the country has recorded a total of 1,399 deaths. To this Assam has added 1347 old deaths. Apart from Assam, Kerala has also updated 47 deaths. Due to this, the total death toll has increased to 5,23,622. On Monday, 6 deaths have been recorded. There have been 4 deaths in Punjab, 1 in Madhya Pradesh and 1 in Delhi.

On Monday, 1011 new cases of corona have been reported in Delhi. During this, 1 patient died. Haryana is at number two, 470 cases of corona were found here, while not a single death was reported. Kerala is at number three; 290 new cases were found here. At the same time, 210 cases have been found in UP, 102 in Mizoram, 84 in Maharashtra, 55 in Tamil Nadu.

What have been the effects of Covishield on Omicron Variants?

Studies have found that the Covishield vaccine is also weak against the Omicron variant. The study also reported that the effect of the Covishield vaccine on the BA.1 variant of Omicron was minimal. This study included patients who had taken both doses of the Covishield vaccine of Corona.

Before this, in a report, it was said that Covaccine is also not very effective against Omicron variants. Experts say that Omicron and its variants can make you sick even after taking both doses of Covishield or Covaccine. To avoid them, a booster dose has been advised.
